Last Drive

We picked her up from the airport
It was her, me & him
I drove the old hatchback. I liked to drive,
The backseat is bore

We saw a truck merge
I didn’t stop, I didn’t honk
Just slithered through like a snake

We got rammed.

He evaluated the cost,
I evaluated the possibility of something worse
The thought of someone not experiencing life to the fullest,
because of something I had done,
was too much to bear.

Yet, if it was just the driver,
I would gladly accept my fate
Without any lament of the life not lived
